Zac Judkins joins Breakthrough Energy’s Innovator Fellows program from Path Power in Oakland, California. Zac is the Founder and CEO, leading the development of a novel underground cable system designed to dramatically reduce the cost, complexity, and surface disruption of high-voltage power line installation.
Zac brings two decades of experience in energy innovation, previously serving as VP of Engineering at SunPower and Form Energy, where he led teams in the development of solar and grid-scale storage technologies. Zac has a background in engineering and physics, and has spent his career building first-of-their-kind hardware systems to advance clean energy infrastructure.
At Path Power, Zac is building a self-installing underground transmission cable that combines navigable drilling, improved cable ampacity, and reduced surface disruption—solving a key bottleneck in clean energy deployment: the inability to build new transmission lines at scale.
The Innovator Fellows program will help Zac accelerate technical development, validate key components, and prepare for field demonstrations.
Outside of work, Zac is an avid sailor and proud father. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from UC Berkeley and a Master of Engineering from MIT.
