Biography

Vincent Dieterich joins Breakthrough Energy’s Innovator Fellows program as COO of Valoron in Munich, Germany.Vincent combines a background in chemical engineering and management with deep expertise in process simulation, techno-economic assessment, and process design for sustainable fuel and chemical production. Over the past five years at the Technical University of Munich, he has led the project team for the H₂-Reallabor Burghausen, a large scale green hydrogen “living lab” in Germany, managed multi-million-euro budgets, and coordinated permitting for pilot-scale facilities. His work has focused on emerging technologies such as Power-to-X and carbon capture, with a strong track record in bridging scientific innovation and commercialization.

Valoron’s thermochemical recycling process turns mixed, unsorted waste into high-quality chemicals and fuels. This approach tackles both waste management and sustainable fuel and chemicals production, contributing to a circular carbon economy. The BE Fellows program will help to demonstrate market readiness and unlocking the next phase of development.

Outside of work, Vincent enjoys traveling, reading and exploring science and technology, especially where innovation meets business. He holds a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering as well as a Master of Science in Management from the Technical University of Munich and conducted research at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He will defend his PhD in Engineering in September 2025.
