Marcel Dossow joins Breakthrough Energy’s Innovator Fellows program from Valoron in Munich, Germany. Marcel is responsible for the technology side of Valoron, driving innovation and development. As a mechanical engineer with a strong background in renewable energy and process technologies, he contributes experience from academia, the chemical industry, and climate tech start-ups.
Valoron’s thermochemical recycling process turns mixed, unsorted waste into high-quality chemicals and fuels. This approach tackles both waste management and sustainable fuel and chemicals production, contributing to a circular carbon economy. The BE Fellows program will help to demonstrate market readiness and unlocking the next phase of development.
Marcel is fascinated by science and climate technology and is personally committed to mitigating climate change. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University, a Master of Science in Process and Energy Technologies from TU Munich, and completed his PhD at TU Munich,focusing on hydrocarbon production from biomass and waste.

Ideate. It reflects the creative core of climate ventures—where science meets imagination to build solutions for a better future. It’s the spark behind every prototype, every pivot, and every breakthrough.

I believe that science and technology, when applied responsibly, are key to solving the climate crisis.
