Entropy Lab is optimizing material properties to create paints and coatings which passively cool buildings to save energy and reduce the urban heat island effect.
Learn MoreBiography
Feijipeng joins Breakthrough Energy’s Innovator Fellows program from Entropy Lab in Singapore. He serves as the technical lead, driving the development of a novel cooling paint. With a strong background in surface engineering and materials science, Jipeng
is currently focused on advancing an integrated cooling paint technology, a concept he first proposed in the journal Science, which has now progressed to product optimization. Integrated cooling paints include both radiative and evaporative cooling, which has been shown to significantly mitigate the urban heat island effect. Through this fellowship, Jipeng aims to refine the paint formulation from R&D to pilot-scale production, establishing critical parameters for quality control and scalability.
Jipeng earned his bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering from UESTC, followed by a Master’s degree in Green Electronics and a PhD from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore. Outside of research, he enjoys sports and hiking.
Q&A
01 What's the best piece of advice you've been given?
The best advice I’ve received is to quantify milestones during pilot production and to prioritize quality control.
02 Who has had the greatest impact on your career path?
My advisor, Prof. Li Hong, has had the greatest impact on my career path. He has consistently supported me, both by providing resources and by guiding my research projects.
03 What did you want to be when you grew up?
When I was young, I dreamed to be either a policeman or a material scientist to develop advanced shoe related materials as I am a sneaker head.
