Anning Corporation
Company Description

The world needs large-scale, low-cost sources of clean hydrogen to decarbonize heavy industry, transport, and power production. Anning targets a vast, untapped new resource—clean hydrogen produced from iron-rich rocks without relying on fossil fuels or electrolysis.
Geologic hydrogen is the occurrence of hydrogen in the subsurface. Anning uses its exploration models to target promising locations and develops technologies to stimulate target rock directly, aiming to achieve commercial production of hydrogen in real time.
Given the theoretical amount of hydrogen that can be generated from these iron-bearing rocks, each Anning project site has the potential to be the largest source of clean hydrogen in the US – at a projected cost of production (USD/kg H2) lower than the energy equivalent sale price of gasoline (USD/gal). These benefits would be transformative in kickstarting the hydrogen economy.
