Tom Griffin has over 25 years of industrial experience in applied technology development and deployment, including contributions over a wide range of energy and environmental technology initiatives. He served as Chief Technology Officer at both Edeniq and Pennsylvania Sustainable Technologies (co-founder), pursuing capabilities and applications in biofuels and catalytic fuels upgrading. He also served in senior technology leadership roles at Reliance Industries (India), DuPont, and Molten Metal Technology – with hands-on engineering involvement in algal and cellulosic biofuels, biochemicals, photovoltaics, gasification, and high-temperature waste conversion processes.
Tom has led multi-disciplinary teams attacking complex development and scale-up challenges in several organizations. He has developed deep expertise in management and personnel practices – leveraged toward organizational competency building, matrixed leadership, integrated risk management practices, and techno-economic assessments. He has authored or co-authored several granted patents, while leading his teams to generate many additional holdings.
Tom served as an active duty commissioned officer in United States Nuclear Navy, directing operations of shipboard propulsion facilities. He holds SB, SM, and PhD degrees in Chemical Engineering from MIT, with a concentration in Fuels and Energy and a graduate minor in Applied Mathematics.
