Kris has been developing expertise in energy and climate policy for more than five years, focusing on European regulations, national policies for renewable energy, and electricity economics.
Kris joined Breakthrough Energy in 2020 and is part of the Europe team. His work focuses on research for international engagement programs as well as developing national policy initiatives.
Previously, Kris worked at the German Federal Ministry of Environment as well as at policy and energy utility consulting firms. His work covered a broad spectrum of topics, including European non-ETS regulations, national support schemes and barriers for renewables, as well as CHP decarbonization. His study focus was on electricity economics, in particular the market impact of renewables curtailment.
Born and raised in Poland, Kris has lived in Germany since 2011. He received master’s degrees in public policy from the Hertie School of Governance and in linguistics from the Free University, both based in Berlin. In his free time, Kris can be found on a hiking trail, playing the guitar, or enjoying a stand-up comedy show.
