Kate Drane is part of the Breakthrough Energy Fellows team. Her work focuses on developing and implementing a world class, top-tier Fellowship experience to support climate- focused technology innovators and entrepreneurs from around the world.
Prior to joining Breakthrough Energy in 2021, Kate spent three and a half years at Techstars, where she supported Fortune 500 companies to advance their innovation goals by facilitating meaningful connections with the Techstars network of entrepreneurs, investors, and mentors. Prior to her role at Techstars, Kate was Senior Director of Outreach at Indiegogo where she empowered more than 900 entrepreneurs to collectively raise over $80M on the platform.
In addition, Kate co-founded The Can Van, the longest operating mobile canning service in the world. The Can Van packages millions of cans of alcoholic beverages across Northern California every year for breweries, wineries, cideries, and distilleries. She met her co-founders while attending Presidio Graduate School, where she received her MBA in Sustainable Management. Kate received her BA in Journalism from Butler University.
Kate lives in San Francisco with her husband, John, and their dog Buckley. She loves traveling, and on the weekend, you will likely find her playing board games and visiting local breweries.
