Adam Barnes

Manager, Technology Support Services

Adam joins Breakthrough Energy as Manager, Technology Support Services, where he is responsible for managing the organization’s technology offerings to ensure efficient and forward-thinking solutions are readily available to support organizational needs.

Prior to joining Breakthrough Energy, Adam spent two years at Gates Ventures, Bill Gates’s private office, initially, as a Technology Support Engineer and, lastly, as a Business Systems Analyst. In these roles, Adam worked on a team responsible for 24/7 technical support of the organization’s technology offerings and ensuring all users and the organization had access to the requisite technologies to complete complex and world-changing work.

Prior to Breakthrough Energy and Gates Ventures, Adam spent nearly eight years as a Technology Manager on the classroom technology support team at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, where his responsibilities included managing all in-classroom technology and conducting technical trainings on how faculty members could better leverage technology in their lectures.

Adam holds a Master of Professional Studies degree in Technology Management from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY. Adam is a Washington, DC area native and currently resides just outside the city in Prince George’s County, MD, where he enjoys following the area’s sports teams, traveling to the West coast to visit family, and trying new restaurants with friends.
