Feeding a Growing World

Making enough food for the planet without contributing to climate change.

Already, about a quarter of all global greenhouse-gas emissions come from feeding the world’s seven billion people. And by 2050, there will be ten billion of us, meaning a more than 40% increase in carbon emissions if we do not transform the way we grow food. We need to find more efficient and productive ways to feed the planet’s growing population while making farming less damaging to the climate.

Technical Quests

The amount of land on the planet is not going to grow, so most of the technical quests in agriculture involve either making more efficient, less wasteful use of land or finding new forms of nutrition. However, there are also many ways to explore decreasing the emissions released during food production.
